Amazing landscape images don't happen on their own. They require hard work in order to get to the right location. Sometimes harder work in order to wake up on time and a good deal of luck in order to get the right conditions so that they all fit together. Nature's Light runs workshops in several amazing locations to try and make it that much easier. However, we have a number of photographers who have indicated they would like to join one or more of us on a real adventure in the mountains, the kind we do on our off-time. Read on if you are interested in joining a trek in the Drakensberg Mountains to capture the mountain light. Full disclosure first: This is not a normal workshop and we are not mountain guides. Rather, this is a hike in the Drakensberg which participants can join and be given photographic instruction while on location (at locations that we know and have shot at before). As such, participants can opt to do all logistics for themselves, or have that taken care of by the Nature's Light team. Logistics in this case means arranging supplies, bookings, cooking, and transport etc. It does not include carrying your stuff. This is required as this is NOT a portered trip. This is a walk in the mountains to some epic locations. The photography workshop takes place in the rugged and remote Mweni section of the Drakensberg. This is one of the most picturesque sections of the Drakensberg mountains and affords relatively easy access to the escarpment and some of its most dramatic peaks.
The workshop runs from the 11th to the 15th of March 2021 for a maximum group size of 6 photographers. The cost for the workshop including transport from Durban, all food and hiking fees, is R7000. Participants who would like to join the workshop under their own steam and with their own arrangements only need to pay the tuition fee of R4000.
