QUICK RELEASE PLATES

QUICK RELEASE PLATES

Leofoto NP-60 Hybrid Quick Release/Arca-Swiss Plate
R499.00
Specifications
  • Length - 60mm
  • Width - 44mm
  • Thickness - 10mm
  • Weight - 42g
The NP-60 hybrid quick release plate features a modular anti-twist flange, which makes it more versatile than a standard camera or lens plate.

When lined up against one of the edges of the camera or lens, an anti-twist flange prevents the plate from being able to twist or unscrew unintentionally. This feature is designed more for lenses with a short foot profile like 70-200/100-400mm's, but it can also be used on a camera body.

The optimal attachment solution for a camera body is an L-bracket, but what makes this plate great is that it can be used as a standard camera plate (anti-twist flange lowered) or as a short lens plate for 70-200/100-400mm class lenses.

If you're just starting out and you're not 100% sure what to purchase, the best option is to buy a versatile and affordable product like this before committing to L-brackets and more specialised plates.

Machined from a single piece of aircraft-grade aluminium, hollowed out to reduce weight and finished in a black anodised coating to protect from bumps and scratches. The top features ribbed rubber pads to assist with grip on the camera body/lens foot.

Leofoto NR-140 Nodal Slide Rail

A nodal rail is a tool used by panorama shooters to center the nodal point of the lens in order to avoid parallax error when shooting panoramic images.

Leofoto's nodal rails offer everything you'd expect, plus a few extra features that make it an incredibly versatile multi-purpose plate.
  1. The attachment screw shown isn't used in standard operation. The plate attaches to your tripod head's clamp and the camera attaches to the clamp of the nodal rail.
  2. Both the clamp and the rail have laser engraved measurement markings - these are absolutely critical as you figure out the nodal alignment of each lens, make a note of the distances and have to reposition using those values in the future.
  3. All Leofoto tripod head clamps also have laser engraved measurement markings to assist with this process.
  4. A bright spirit level serves as redundancy for perfect levelling in addition tot the ones on the head and tripod.
  5. The included UNC 1/4" attachment screw and holes are for using the nodal rail as a multi-purpose plate as shown in image #7 - for those who want to use off-camera flash or mount a compact vlogging/BTS system next to their camera.
  6. The plate also features a strap loop and multiple screw holes for attaching straps.

Machined from a single piece of aircraft grade aluminium, hollowed out to reduce weight and finished in a black anodised coating to protect from bumps and scratches.

Panorama systems work best with a levelling base such as -
  1. The YB-75L for systematic-style (Leofoto Summit Range) tripods with a modular apex.
  2. The LB-60 for standard tripods.
  3. Tripods with a built-in levelling base such as Leofoto's levelling Ranger models.

We are working on an article about panoramic tripod solutions as it is quite a complex subject with many different solutions. Make sure you are subscribed to our newsletter to find out when it becomes available.

Telephoto lens supports are becoming more popular as they have been proven to enhance the stability of such setups by distributing the weight of the camera through the support, instead of all the weight being on the lens foot. Improved stability and weight distribution means a lesser chance of blurred images from camera shake and smoother gimbal operation.

Leofoto's telephoto lens supports are available in 250mm and 400mm versions - it is up to you to measure the distance between your camera body and the lens foot to see which length will be ideal for your setup.

The articulating support arm features three hinges, two of which are operated by an allen key and one which has a big locking knob, operated by hand. This knob has a shifting rail, which also aids with height adjustments of the arm to ensure optimal alignment for camera support. The entire articulating arm can be removed with an allen key, leaving you with a standard 250/400mm arca-swiss plate.

The 250/400mm plate features a UNC 1/4" and 3/8" attachment screws, which can be removed or supplemented. It also features laser engraved measurements along the side of the plate so you can quickly balance your lens.
